Membership Covenant of
 Grace Baptist Church

We, having been called by the Spirit of God, the will of the Father, and the work of His Son into the new covenant, and having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit into the universal church, and having been given the gift of repentance, do now and in the presence of the triune God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another as one body in Jesus Christ.

We do purpose, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love and to grow in the fullness of Christ Jesus our Lord; under the authority of the leadership within this body of believers submitted to this church’s body including biblical discipline for unrepentant sin; to make the Holy Scripture the supreme standard for all of faith and practice and joy; to resolve disputes within the church in a biblical manner such that God would be glorified; to promote a godly view of culture and family life, seeking to live our lives apart from this world and repent of the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life knowing that God calls His children to be unlike the world; and to seek to grow towards biblical unity in the truth.

We believe this local church assembly is a community of believers in Christ caring for and encouraging one another in love, both by word and by deed; building up one another in the faith; regularly and faithfully worshiping together as the body of Christ; cheerfully using our gifts and talents in serving and giving to the function and needs of this local church (both to individuals and the collective body); taking part in their joys and sorrows; giving sacrificially when needs arise; and proclaiming the Word of God for Christ and His eternal kingdom.

We will not neglect to pray for Grace Baptist Church, both for the collective church and for individuals (including ourselves), that God would keep us humble, that He would cause our elders & deacons to maintain their eyes upon Him so that they would be above reproach, and that we may glorify His name through service in the capacity that He has gifted each of us as individuals; neither will we neglect the assembling of the saints and will do our utmost to gather with the church body for collective worship on Sunday; if at all possible we will attend the men’s Wednesday prayer meeting (or encourage our husbands & fathers to do so); furthermore, should we move from the area we will seek and unite with another church, if possible with a like minded church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant.

We hold to a biblical view of manhood and womanhood where God has called the husband to serve and lay down his life for his wife as Christ has done for the church, and it is his responsibility to pray for, educate, and nurture his own wife’s spiritual life in Christ; and it is also where God has called the wife to submit to her own, and not another’s, husband as the church is to do for Christ; that children are to honor their mothers and fathers; furthermore, we agree that we will maintain family and personal devotions and to educate our children in the Christian faith, knowing that while the responsibility is with all of the church, it is the father who will be held accountable for this education.

We acknowledge and agree with the core values that this church has adopted; along with acknowledging the biblical doctrines of our faith found in the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 and agree that these documents actively promote the essential unity of the brethren as commanded in Scripture and we will at no point teach against these values and doctrines.

We, having undertaken for the glory of God, the advancement of the Christian faith, and understanding and agreeing with the above statements, as believers in Christ Jesus, join ourselves as covenanted members with Grace Baptist Church.
